I chose to depict her standing upright as opposed to the traditional ‘lying down’ representation we so often see. This piece/collection is about acknowledging the sacrifices she has made/we have made and now promoting self-care and love 💚. Waiporoporo (purple) to me represents protection, spirituality and healing. The crown chakra is also violet (surrounding foliage) or white (the bright, illuminated light at the base and top of image). The glowing tear rolling down her face is a testament to the sacrifices she has selflessly accepted. Her embraced arms visually reinforces self-love, and her slight smile illustrates contentment in the now. Her moko kauae represents the beginnings of whakapapa lines as well as roots finding there way into the whenua. This is the design you will see on the earrings for this collection. My interpretation of Papatūānuku 💚💚💚
